Community guidelines
Our goal is to create a friendly and supportive online community where you can interact with people within the low vision and blind community, and their supports and networks. Please follow these guidelines when engaging with this platform to help create a welcoming, safe and inclusive space for all.
Please be mindful that when you share information on this platform, others can see, copy and use that information, so we suggest avoiding sharing any personal details you do not wish to be public like your home address or mobile phone number.

1. Please be considerate and respectful
This platform is a space designed to facilitate meaningful conversation and connection. Please share your thoughts, comments, opinions, experiences and expertise in a thoughtful, considered and respectful way that invites conversation rather than dismissing others if you disagree. If you disagree with the comments shared by other members, please do so in a respectful and polite way.

2. A note on user-generated content
We invite you to post content that is on-topic and relevant to our community. User-generated content refers to content that is posted by members of the community, whether that is written, visual, audio etc. The content posted by members of the community does not necessarily represent the views of Guide Dogs. Please read our Disclaimer for more information.

3. Please, no promotions
Posts that are overtly promotional in nature, flagged as spam, duplicates or do not add value to our community will be deleted. We will also remove posts soliciting funds directly from community members, comments violating any intellectual property rights or files that contain viruses.

4. We do not tolerate offensive behaviour
Posts using insulting, offensive or defamatory language will be removed without notice. Those who breach these guidelines will receive a warning from our moderators, however repeated breaches will result in the member being banned. If there is a concerning comment or post from a member, please send an email to community@guidedogs.asn.au and we’ll respond as soon as we can during business hours.

5. Inclusivity
Our community is a space for people from all walks of life to feel safe, share their experiences and learn from others. Posts that are deemed by Guide Dogs to be hateful in language, inflammatory in nature, targeting race or ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality or political beliefs, or personal attacks aimed at particular individuals or groups, will be removed without notice.

6. Support
This platform will be moderated by Guide Dogs team members to maintain these Community Guidelines. We’ll do our best to answer your questions as quickly, accurately and honestly as we can. Sometimes we may not be able to reply straight away but we will always try to respond in a timely manner, during business hours.

7. High standards
When someone in our community has posted misleading or deceptive comments, we will endeavour to correct posts so you are given the right information. Please let us know if you believe something we have written is incorrect.

8. Response times
Comments and content posted after hours will be responded to as quickly as possible during business hours, Monday to Friday.
